I have been using Tweet Adder for about a week. I bought it on May 29, but I didn’t really start using it before the day after. So far, I have an incredible story to tell you.

I never spam

I’m not one of those guys that will try to spam Twitter, or try to get thousands of new followers in just a few days. I enjoy quality, and I try my best to keep my Twitter experience a good one. I’m not testing Twitter, in order to see how I can exploit the system before I get suspended.

I’m only using one account, even though I know that I probably should use several (one for personal stuff, one for business, maybe even one for each of my blogs). So, that being said, I was a little sceptical when I bought Tweet Adder, and I was unsure how I was going to use it, in order not to become yet another spammer.

So, let me tell you how my experience with Tweet Adder have been.

For Windows and Mac

The reason I bought Tweet Adder in the first place, and not one of the other similar Twitter software (like Hummingbird) was due to the fact that I can use Tweet Adder on both a PC and a Mac. This is the first Twitter software I have found that I can use on my MacBook.

Testimonials

Before buying it, I searched google for testimonials. I even asked people on discussion forums what they thought of Tweet Adder. All the information I gathered were great feedback, not one negative response.

How I am using Tweet Adder

The reason I am using Tweet Adder, and the reason I am so incredibly satisfied with this software, is because it’s really easy to find targeted followers. I do it, by first finding targeted people to follow, and when I find the right people to follow, usually, they follow me back.

For instance, I am following people who are interested in Internet Marketing. I have specified that I want to follow people who are using “Internet Marketing” as a keyword in their tweets, and/or as part of their profile (bio) on Twitter. I am also using several other keywords related to my interests.

This is a really powerful feature. I’m only looking for targeted followers.

What I am not using (but could be using)

I am only using Tweet Adder to get targeted followers, but I could also be using the software to send direct messages to all my followers, or send tweets at specific times. Since I live in Norway, I could send tweets while I’m sleeping, and most of my followers are online (they live in the US). It’s a powerful feature, but I haven’t used it yet.

I can also specify Tweet Adder to do some automated tasks every time I log in, or at a specific time every single day. For instance, I could unfollow (as many people as I want) at a specific time, automatic follow users, or automatic send a message to all my followers.

Results

As I wrote earlier, I’ve been using Tweet Adder for about a week. And I am not a spammer, so I’ve just been adding a few followers every single day (instead of hundreds). During a week, I have close to 300 new targeted followers at Twitter. And, I’ve spent no more than 20 minutes during the week to get all the followers. Most of the stuff is done by the pust of a single button.

If I wanted to, I could probably have added an extra thousand followers in a week. To me, 300 new targeted followers a week, is more than enough.

Screenshots

I have added a few screenshots from when I first started using Tweet Adder. At that time, I had 1765 followers, now as I am writing this, I have more than 2000.

Software updates

It’s been an interesting week. During the week I’ve received five updates of Tweet Adder. The company behind the software are working to keep it at the top, as the number one software for Twitter promotion and marketing. I think they are doing an awesome job.

Summary

To me, Tweet Adder is the perfect Twitter companion. It’s easy to use, yet extremely powerful. Follow my progress on Twitter and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

I purchased the software about 5 days ago and left it running and today my twitter account is suspended for "aggressive behaviour". The software itself works brilliantly I cannot fault the software, but the use of it, for me anyway, has been negative and I don't know if I'll get my account back :(

    Simon
  • Hey Simon,

I'm sorry to hear that. I have been using TweetAdder for a long time, but I've never added a lot of followers. Well, the most I've added is 200 followers in a day, and I have never unfollowed people right away, I've always waited three days and I've unfollowed people who haven't followed me back in three days.

    How did you use TweetAdder?
  • ARMAN
Thanks for review !!! its helpful but still I am thinking about Unlimited account, what to do ? buy or not ?
  • I have just bought it for one account, and I'm still using it for just one account. I don't have any experience for unlimited accounts, but it works great for one :)
  • Kelly
this software got my account suspended! really sucks
  • Hi Kelly,

Do you know why your account was suspended? I've been using it a lot and mine is still active.

I think Tweet Adder is a SCAM!

    They have nonexistent customer service.

My company maintains many tweeter accounts for our various divisions. We are trying to make followers of some divisions aware of the tweeting we are doing at our other division so we thought we'd use Tweet Adder to do this.

We initially purchased the single account license to test it out. All was good.

We then purchased the Unlimited license. They sent us new account information. However, we could only set up 3 accounts. We have repeatedly tried to contact them about this problem. We included the email from them confirming that the unlimited account was purchased when we contacted them.

We received one reply asking what twitter account user name we were trying to add (as if that would make any difference).

We have been ignored. They stole our $133 and will not fix our problem. Sounds like a scam to me.

For single accounts, they work as advertised. Don't get ripped off by buying an unlimited account.
  • I'm sorry to hear this. I've only tried TweetAdder for a single account, and I haven't experienced any problems.

To me, TweetAdder has worked excellent. I just don't understand what they could possible gain by ripping people off like this. Well, in the short run, they'll be earning money by ripping people off.

Their product works, no doubt about it, so they should be earning a lot of money by providing excellent customer service... not like this.

But what about when you get the damn error message DATABASE IS LOCKED?

This is driving me crazy. I paid for the biggest license allowing me unlimited accounts and I'm only running 3 of 4 accounts and it keeps giving me that error message. What do you do to fix this very annoying PROBLEM?
  • Sorry to hear about your problems.

From their FAQ, it says that.

Q: Why is my “Database Locked”?A: The database locked error generally means that a different instance of the program is currently writing to the database, so it is currently unavailable.

    You could contact them http://tweetadder.com/contact-us
  • frrans
I keep getting a message Database is locked. I logged out of Tweetadder and when I go to log back my user name and license is not there. What do I do?
  • It has worked fine for me. Have you contacted support?
  • babybank119
I like tweet adder more than Hummingbird2. I think It's more feature.
  • I haven't tried Hummingbird 2, but I agree with you when it comes to TweetAdder. I have used it for a long time and I think it's amazing.
  • Jan
Hmm...this is very interesting indeed! I'm digging the comments and I did contact them to address the issue of the user above's Twitter issue. I'm waiting to hear back from Tweet Adder, but in the meantime, I think I'm just going to dive in and pay the higher, $55 price (which I believe was increased to pay their affiliate's commissions) and bring in even more sales! *Sigh*

Guess I'd better jump on it while it's $55...before they then jump it to $97 and then onto $197...(grrr!!!)
  • @Jan

I'm still using TweetAdder every single day. When I joined I paid less than $55, but I believe it's worth even $197 :)

Tweet adder is the best twitter marketing software that I have used.... It is the only tool that is completely hands off and automated.. I love how you do not have to baby site the software, compared to others out there on the market at the moment.
  • A warning to everyone. Using TweetAdder will get your Twitter account suspended. Some of its features are in violation of its rules. I know from experience. Avoid if you want to keep your Twitter account.
  • Hi John.

Can you please be specific? I have been using TweetAdder since the day it was launched, I'm still using it every single day, and my account has not been suspended.

Which features are in violation of the rules of Twitter?
  • Hi Jens,

Below is the email I received from Twitter about my account. the only software I have ever used is TweeAdder. You'll not where they specifically say: "The only automated following behavior that Twitter allows is auto-follow-back (following a user after they have followed you).". My account has yet to have been revived even though I have assured them I would not use it again. If you use the TweetAdder feature that automatically follows users based on keywords (according to this email) you will be suspended. Perhaps they have updated their recently regarding automated software?
    -------------------------------------------
    Hello,

Your account was suspended for aggressive following behavior, a violation of the Twitter Rules (http://twitter.com/rules).

You will need to revoke access to any automated applications that are causing your account to violate the rules. The only automated following behavior that Twitter allows is auto-follow-back (following a user after they have followed you). This help page has more information on Twitter's Following Limits and Best Practices: http://help.twitter.com/forums/10711/entries/68916. Please also review our Automation Rules and Best Practices: http://twitter.zendesk.com/forums/26810/entries....

Could you reply to this message to confirm that you'll remove any automated following applications? If you have any questions, please let us know at this time. Repeat violations may result in permanent suspension.

    Thanks,
  • Jan
Okay, this is the response I got when I contacted Tweet Adder and asked them about the above account suspension situation--which makes (perfect sense)!

    Hey there,
The tweet adder program has stops in place within the program that will give you an error message before you go against twitters rate and ratio limits, so it's pretty hard to have your account suspended :)

There are 3 main reasons I have seen for suspension:
    1) Sending the exact same tweets out over and over again
    2) Sending the same tweets across multiple profiles
    3) High ratio of new follows blocking your profile > sending a flag to twitter.

#1 and #2 are easy fixes, don't repeat posts, or duplicate tweets.

#3 Do not try to take a "shotgun" blast approach to following people. Meaning do not start following profiles that have nothing to do with you. You must find the niche profiles that have the same interests as your profile's bio. When you follow someone, they will come to your twitter page to see who you are and why you followed. If you add a "cat lover", and you
bio says "I hate cats", or "buy my ebook on real estate" you will most likely cause that person to hit the "block user" button.

However, if you "hate cats" and add everyone that also has either tweeted "I hate cats", or has "i hate cats" in their bio. Those people will see your bio and understand why you followed them and most likely will follow you back.

Always ONLY send to targeted users.

    Thank you,
    Support
  • None of this explains why Twitter specifically said to me that:

"The only automated following behaviour that Twitter allows is auto-follow-back (following a user after they have followed you)."

If this is the case, Tweet Adder (or any similar program) is NOT ALLOWED according to their rules. Full stop. Unless they're telling you one thing and me something else it was a pretty clear email!
  • Carroll K
    John -
Just curious how many targeted users you were auto following a day? Could have been the high number? or were your numbers conservative?
  • Thanks a lot for this information. I'll have to do some research regarding this topic.

I have used TweetAdder to gain followers, and I have never experienced any problems with it.

But how many did you "autofollow" each day? I have never followed more than 200 people a day.

thanks for the post and ill be testing it out soon
  • Hi Mike. You should test it.

TweetAdder is awesome. I'm still using it every single day.
  • Very interested in trying this out. Thanks for the review.
  • You should test it. It's one of the best tools I've tried, still using it every single day.
  • Thanks for the honest review. It seems like every Web 2.0 company knows about SEO, so they flood the SERPs with their affiliates reviews. Nice.. No, Refreshing seeing an actual-legitimate review.

There is no reason any software company should raise their prices this much in such a short amount of time, they simply did it because they can.

The worst part about the programs I've tried like this is the big number of irrelevant followers, hell, if you can get any good ones at all. So that means you end up spending more time on removing the stupid Twitter accounts where people tweet in all Ebonics about how awesome they are.

Maybe this one will be worth a try if you say so, which you do :) I'll report back with my personal review. Danke.
  • Yes, I really think TweetAdder is awesome. Too bad they have raised the price, but as you said, it's because they can.

I am using it every single day, and I have tested it both on Mac and PC, it works.

Please report back after you've tested it.

    Thanks.
  • Sue
Thanks for this review. We are all looking for a good experience and assistance with Twitter.

However I am interested to see that the price is now listed as $55 for one account - that is a huge % increase. Does anyone know how long the program has been around?
  • I didn't know about the price increase. Thanks for sharing.

I think TweetAdder was launched in May 2009.
  • Hi Carol,

My opinion is not biased. I haven't tried Hummingbird, but I'm using TweetAdder. When I wrote this review, Hummingbird was not available for Mac. Now, they've launched Hummingbird 2. But that's a whole different story.

This review is only about TweetAdder. I have heard a lot of great things about Hummingbird, but I have never tried it and therefore I can't really comment on it.

    - Jens
  • Carol
It is obvious that your opinion is biased and that you're reviewing their tool for money since hummingbird works on Windows/Mac/Linux.
  • It seems that the @TweetAdder account has been suspended. Any guesses as to why?

    -Steve aka @implu aka http://social.implu.com/t/implu
  • Hi Steve,

I didn't know that it was suspended. I'll contact the people behind the software and ask why.

    Thanks for sharing.

I'm still using it every single day.
  • Superb, Superb Write UP! Thank you for sharing your experience and views!
  • Thanks for posting, I'll definitely be subscribing to your blog.
